Robert Christian West is the owner of Body Mechanix, Personalized Fitness Beyond, in Middleton, Wisconsin. He is also a highly respected personal trainer in Madison, a lifelong athlete, a Tae Kwon Do black belt and a creative thinker. Rob has found a way to make a career out of his main passions: Promoting health and wellness and mentoring those who desire change in their bodies and their lives.
From a young age, Rob was interested in the anatomy of the body, the psychology of the mind and their ability to be transformed through diet and exercise. At the age of fifteen Rob earned his black belt in Tae Kwon Do and went on to win many mid-western and national titles throughout the following years. He earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology (with an emphasis on sports psychology) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he graduated with Distinction. He incorporates the most effective training principles and methodologies set forth by both the National Academy of Sports Medicine(NASM) and American Council of Exercise(ACE). He remains an avid reader and student of all health and wellness topics and continues to attend classes to stay abreast of the latest research and trends.
Born and raised in Madison, Rob has always been active in the community and is frequently requested as a speaker on health-related topics. For six years, he was regularly featured as the on-air fitness expert for the Fit at Five television segment on WISC-TV in Madison and for seven years owned and operated Gold's Gym/Heroes Health, Fitness & Beyond, a revolutionary multi-award winning health club he uniquely designed and built on Madison's east side. The facility was honored with a number of international awards recognizing it for its excellence, creativity, and design. These awards included the THEA award, the world's top honor in themed entertainment, never before awarded to a fitness facility (previous winners included Disney and Universal Studios!), the Athletic Business Facility of Merit Award, a Nova 7 Nomination Award, and more nominations and first place awards ever given to a single club at the annual international Gold's Gym Award Show in Las Vegas. In addition, well-known national trade magazines such as Club Industry, Athletic Business, Fitness Management and the National Fitness Trade Journal regularly featured Rob and his club on their covers and in their pages.
Rob has spent decades studying the science and art of the human body, marveling at its potential and the magnificence of its form, and using his knowledge to benefit others. He is a seasoned trainer who has accumulated knowledge over the years that cannot be learned any other way than by doing. He has an innate ability to understand people and motivate them to achieve their fitness goals and dreams, while being sensitive to the individual needs of each, no matter what their age.
